Caller ID

Caller ID is a phone feature that allows the consumer to view the phone number and the name of the caller before answering the incoming call. Almost all digital phones, as well as many analog phones have this capability.

When a telephone rings, an electronic display registers the caller's name and phone number. Consumers often use this feature to screen their calls.
